Parent Workshops

I needed support and deeper knowledge about parent-child communication…and child behavior to improve the relation with my daughter to avoid problems and miscommunication that I previously experienced. I wanted to practice the newly acquired skills in friendly environment, among parents with similar issues. – J.J.

Why? We can all benefit from improved communication and relationships with our children. Nurturing positive life skills prepares them for the many challenges they will face as they mature, while reinforcing the parent-child bond as a life long connection.

Parent Workshops:

I am a certified Positive Discipline facilitator. Our workshops are filled with activities to experience the information and skills we are learning. This model is based on creating a sense of ‘belonging and significance’ by using tools that follow these 5 criteria of the Positive Discipline approach:

  • Maintain mutual respect by being Kind and Firm at the same time
  • Help children feel connected to the family
  • Are effective long-term
  • Teach valuable social and life skills
  • Invite children to feel how capable they are to use their power in constructive ways

Common Challenges faced by parents, and the Life Skills they hope to instil:

We are a group of parents seeking to grow in our own skills! We support each other and have fun during the interactive sessions through the Positive Discipline approach: discussions, role plays, taking different perspectives, reflection, and most importantly, practicing at home to share these new skills with the whole family.
‘Parents Helping Parents’ is a special feature of the Positive Discipline approach. It is my role as ‘guide on the side’ to facilitate parents stepping up as consultants for each other, using the Positive Discipline tools we are learning, while keeping the Five Criteria of Positive Discipline foremost in our thinking.
